Maine Event Comedy’s Tightest Five contest continues with the second preliminary round at Bear Bones Beer, Thursday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
Any stand-up comedian will tell you they have a tight five minutes, but who has the tightest five? Twenty of New England’s rising comedy stars are out to prove they have what it takes to win.
In the second prelim, Mark Turcotte will host 10 hopefuls as they perform their best five minutes of original material; five will advance to the semifinals. Along with bragging rights, the winner’s prize package includes paid work, professional headshots, and craft beer.
Prelim round two contestants include Randy Williams (Londonderry, NH), Mike Johnson (Portland, ME), Jake Jacobson (Brownfield, ME), Adam Hatch (Bangor, ME), Nick Gordon (New Gloucester, ME), Tony Capobianco (Easton, MA), Nate Davis (Boston, MA), Mike Hallinan (Westbrook, ME), David McLaughlin (Somerville, MA), Ryan Ellington (Cambridge, MA).
Biddeford’s Mike Gray will be the evening’s featured comedian. Gray is living proof that a horrible childhood can be turned around into an equally horrible adulthood. He was a finalist in the 2017 Best Bar Comic Competition and performs regularly throughout Maine and New Hampshire.
The semifinals are February 15, and the finals will take place March 15.
An open-mic, available to jokesmiths of all levels, will follow the show.
The show is free and for ages 21-and-older. Bear Bones Beer is located at 43 Lisbon St., Lewiston. FMI call 207-513-0742 or e-mail email@example.com.
